On the Mighty Mekong, Vietnam

The Mekong is a large multi-use river which runs through China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. On our way to tour the river, we made a stop at the Buddhist temple Vinh Thang.

Its design is intended to be a harmonious balance of European and Asian architecture.

You can’t miss the giant Buddha’s nearby!

Not before long, we finally made it to the Mekong River!

After boarding our first boat, we made a stop at a local fish farm. They really stuff the fish in those houses! 😲

We then made our way deeper into the Mekong, using smaller boats.

We stopped by a local farm that seemed to have a fancy for reptiles.

There was this one-year-old alcohol made of fermented snakes and bees. Yes… both of us tried some of this bottle! 😋🐍

And we continued on land for a bit:

At one point, we had this creepy backyard fellow on us. He’s not dangerous but feels like a giant muscle!

Escaping from any further peril, we took a small taxi boat along the river to the delta where we could take our original boat home!

  1. That is some temple so intricate in design. First time seeing a Budda laying down must have been sleepy. There goes the Budda with the belly to rub for good luck. Small boats. I saw a war movie called Apocalypse Now which showed those fish houses not with fishes but prisoners. You guys are so daring and crazy. Can’t get away from the Gators! You would have to pay me to drink that alcohol, no way. I sure hope the creepy snake was dead. Can’t believe you guys. Enjoy love ya both God bless
